Pink Valentine’s Day Macaroni & Cheese

Ingredients

  • 450g of macaroni noodes

  • 2 cups of regular milk

  • 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream

  • 1 cup of shredded old white cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup of shredded gouda cheese

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour

  • 1 tsp. mustard powder

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. paprika

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 5-8 drops of pink food colouring

Instructions

  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Cook macaroni noodles to al dante, about 8-10 minutes. Drain, coat in ~1-2 tbsp olive oil (to stop noodles from sticking together) and set aside.

  • In a large pan on medium heat, start melting your butter. Once completed melted, let it bubble for 1 minute.

  • Next, slowly add in your all purpose flour while whisking. Once all added in, it should look like a thick paste.

  • Now, slowly add in your milk, 1/2 cup at a time while whisking. Bring to a simmer.

  • Next, add in your cheeses, 1/2 cup at a time while whisking.

  • Once fully melted, add in your spices (salt, pepper, mustard, paprika & garlic salt).

  • Add in your macaroni noodles into your cheese mixture. Fold them in until every noodle is submerged and covered in cheese.

  • Bring your burner to low and add in your whipping cream. Mix until combined. Let simmer for 2 minutes.

  • Finally, add in your food colouring and mix until desired colour is achieved.

  • You’re done! Serve immediately.
