Ingredients
For 1 sandwich
(Or if you’d like to make them in bulk, the ingredients in brackets makes 8 sandwiches)
1 Sourdough English Muffin (8)
1 Egg (8)
2oz Ground Pork (16oz/1 lb)
1 Kraft singles cheese slice (8)
Butter
1/2 clove garlic, minced (3 cloves)
1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper (4 tsp)
1/2 tsp Salt (4 tsp)
1/4 tsp MSG (2 tsp)
1/2 tsp Rosemary (4 tsp)
1/4 tsp Thyme (2 tsp)
Tools
Metal spatula for smashing ground pork
Egg mold (should be roughly the same size as an english muffin ~10cm)
Frying pan
Lid for frying pan
Instructions
In a bowl, combine ground pork with minced garlic, ground black pepper, salt, msg, rosemary, and thyme. Mix well.
Make 2oz balls out of the ground pork, set aside.
Heat up the frying pan on medium-high temperature.
Cut the english muffin in half and butter both sides.
Once the frying pan is hot, fry both sides of the english muffin until golden brown. Remove from pan and put them on your plate. Place the slice of cheese on the bottom half while the muffin is still warm so that it melts a bit.
In the frying pan, place one of your 2oz pork balls and let the bottom side brown slightly. Once browned, flip the ball so that the browned side is facing up. Using a spatula (metal preferably or something equally as strong) smash the ball into a patty that is 1/2 inch thick. I just try to go as thin as possible. Cook and flip until both sides are nicely charred. Place on top of cheese and bottom of the muffin.
In the same frying pan, place your egg mold. Put butter in the middle so that the egg doesn’t stick. Crack the egg into the mold and using a fork or knife break the yolk. Pour a tablespoon or two of water around the egg and cover with your lid. Let it cook for about 2 minutes or until the top of the egg starts to solidify.
Once the top of the egg starts to solidify, remove the mold and flip the egg. If it’s runny enough that the egg spills when removing the mold just cook it a bit longer. After flipping the egg it only needs to cook for about 30 seconds or just long enough to slightly brown the other side of the egg.
Finish assembling the sandwich with the egg!
