Udon don’t even know how good and simple this recipe is.

Ingredients

(Serves 3-4)

  • 400 g udon noodles (we usually get the fresh refrigerated ones)

  • 100 g thinly sliced Korean style beef (thinly sliced brisket or rib eye)

  • 3 cloves garlic minced(the more the merrier)

  • 6-8 shiitake mushrooms, sliced (or white mushrooms if that’s what you prefer)

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1/2 cup cream

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp white pepper

  • 1/2 tbsp sriracha (optional)

  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  • In a medium wok on medium heat, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and add in pre-sliced beef. Season with salt & pepper

  • Once cooked through, remove and set aside

  • In the same medium wok, heat butter over medium heat. Let the butter fully melt and brown for about 30 seconds afterward

  • Add mushrooms, garlic, and onion. Let them brown for about 3 minutes while stirring

  • Add beef broth, soy sauce, and white pepper, bring to a simmer

  • Add the Udon noodles and cook for 3-5 mins

  • Add cream and stir to ensure everything is combined evenly

  • Add the beef that you previously set aside back in

  • Finish by stirring in sesame oil and sriracha

  • Let the sauce simmer and thicken for about 5 minutes. Add flour to help thicken if needed

  • Serve in your favourite bowl and top with green onion!
